Get Glowing Anti-Aging Elixir

As I have said over and over, and is the purpose of this site and my books, for me and many other women – the ketogenic lifestyle is more than about fat loss. It’s about looking and feeling our best as we approach and go beyond our 40s by yes, eliminating stubborn fat, but also experiencing increased energy, stabilizing moods and getting glowing skin and stronger, healthier hair and nails. That’s why in addition to following a ketogenic meal plan, I also incorporate anti-aging drinks and and elixirs that help boost metabolism and combat the effects of aging.

This Get Glowing Anti-Aging Elixir is my go-to mid-morning drink – I have it a couple of hours after my Bulletproof coffee and it does wonders for my metabolism, bloating and water retention. Thanks to the high water content of the cucumber, my skin seems more hydrated and glow-y too!

This elixir recipe is adapted from one of Dr. Mandell’s recipes – while the taste may take some getting used to, I have come to love it and can notice the difference if I go a day without it. Adding a bit of Allulose or your favorite sweetener helps!

While this does come in at around 7g of net carbs per serving, the carbs come from the cucumber and lemon juice, so I believe the benefits — as far as hydration, metabolism boost and anti-aging — makes this safe to add to your daily routine without worrying about being kicked out of ketosis!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 medium organic cucumber peeled
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley sprigs
  • 1/2 inch fresh ginger peeled
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • A few dashes of cayenne pepper
  • A touch of sweetener – I use liquid Allulose or stevia
  • Ice

Instructions
 

  • Mix this up in your blender until it’s a slushy consistency. Enjoy!
