Creating the Jalapeno Sugar-Free Simple Syrup: To begin our low carb sugar-free spicy margarita adventure, let’s craft the star of the show – the jalapeno sugar-free simple syrup. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Slice up a Serrano pepper (or your preferred variety).
  2. In a small saucepan, combine half a cup of water and half a cup of your favorite sweetener (I’m using monk fruit).
  3. Add the sliced peppers to the mix.
  4. Heat over medium-high heat until the sweetener dissolves and it begins to bubble.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes.
  6. Strain the mixture to separate the jalapenos from the syrup.
  7. Transfer the jalapeno sugar-free simple syrup into a container with a lid and store it in the fridge for up to two weeks.

Prepping Your Margarita Glass: For an extra touch of flair, let’s create a spicy rim for your margarita glass:

  1. Use sugar-free chamoy or lime juice to coat the rim of your glass.
  2. Roll the coated rim in low-sodium Tajin for that perfect kick.

Mixing Up the Spicy Margarita: Now, it’s time to assemble your low carb sugar-free spicy margarita:

  1. Fill your shaker with ice.
  2. Add 2 ounces of tequila.
  3. Squeeze in the juice of half a lime.
  4. Pour in 1 ounce of your homemade jalapeno sugar-free simple syrup.
  5. Instead of triple sec or cointreau which are high in sugar and carbs, enhance the flavor with a few dashes of orange bitters.
  6. Give it all a good shake to blend those vibrant flavors.

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sweetener I prefer Allulose or Monkfruit
  • 1 jalapeno pepper sliced

For the Spicy Margarita

  • Add the tequila, simple syrup, lime juice and orange bitters to a shaker full of ice.
  • Shake and strain into your glass, which I like to rim with Tajin and Sugar-Free Chamoy (or lime juice)
