How to Ripen Avocados

  1. Take a brown paper bag and put a full, uncut apple (any kind will do) in it.
  2. Put your unripened avocados in with the apple in the brown paper bag.
  3. Roll / fold the bag over to close.
  4. Let the avocados and apple sit together for a couple of days, keep checking – but in a few days, your avocados will be perfect and ready to devour!

How the heck does an apple in a bag ripen avocados?

Apples produce the plant hormone ethylene which is how fruit (like apples or bananas) ripen. When in the brown paper bag with other fruits, the gases excreted from the apple is trapped and helps the other fruit ripen with them. So easy!
