Ketology How-To: Make Homemade Almond Milk

We’ve been making fresh vanilla almond milk ever since i got my new nut milk bag from Ellie’s Best and it’s so simple and delicious! My sons pretty much immediately use half of it with their cereal – and I’ll use it for chia pudding and kale smoothies. I’ll never go back to buying almond milk again!

It’s so easy to make, super nutritious and free of all the added preservatives and other additives found in store-bought nut milks. Plus, it’s significantly cheaper! Win, win, win! Homemade almond milk ⁣stays fresh for up to 3 days, though we seem to be making it every 2 – 3 days because we can’t get enough!

Homemade Vanilla Almond Milk⁣

  • 1 cup raw almonds⁣
  • 4 cups filtered water⁣
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan pink salt⁣
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract ⁣
  • 1/4 tsp sweetener (I used Lakanto Monkfruit⁣)
  1. Soak almonds overnight in 3 cups of water. ⁣
  2. Drain and put in blender with 4 cups of fresh water, salt, vanilla extract and sweetener. ⁣
  3. Blend for 1 – 2 minutes. ⁣
  4. Place nut milk bag (or cheesecloth, but I found the nut milk bag so much easieover a large bowl and pour nut mixture in. ⁣
  5. Knead and squeeze the bag until all the liquid is extracted and you’re left with a dry mound of pulp in the bag. You’ll be surprised at how much milk keeps coming so go to town squeezing and kneading!⁣
  6. Store milk in an airtight container in the fridge. It’ll stay fresh for about 3 days!
