Chipotle Adds A Keto Bowl To Its Menu

Chipotle is jumping on fact that 71% of New Year’s resolutions focus on diet and eating healthier. This week, they launched a line of “Lifestyle Bowls” – including a Chipotle Keto Bowl – that fit the macros of some popular lifestyles like Paleo, Whole30 and of course, Keto. I love that they call them “Lifestyle” bowls – acknowledging that these are not trends or fad diets, but that their customers were custom creating bowls to fit their lifestyle.

Their Keto Salad Bowl comes with carnitas, romaine lettuce, red salsa, cheese and guacamole. When we tried to estimate macros for this Chipotle Keto Salad Bowl in MyFitnessPal, we came up with:

  • 362 calories
  • 21g fat
  • 9g total carbs
  • 25g protein

I would probably add sour cream to this to get the fat count higher, however this isn’t a bad option on the go. There are other keto hacks to order off the regular menu at Chipotle and still keep it keto. So, below is my guide to keto menu items at Chipotle.

Ordering Keto at Chipotle

Low carb proteins at Chipotle, each 0-1 grams net carbs:
  • Barbacoa: tender beef shoulder, braised and shredded, 1 gram net carbs
  • Carnitas: seasoned, braised, shredded pork, 0 grams net carbs
  • Chicken: marinated in a smoky, spicy chipotle pepper adobo sauce, and grilled, 0 grams net carbs
  • Steak: bottom rounds, top rounds, sirloin, and other cuts of beef grilled to a nice char on the outside and medium-rare inside, 0 grams net carbs
Low carb toppings at Chipotle, each 0-4 grams net carbs:
  • Fajita veggies: 4 g net carbs
  • Guacamole: 2 g net carbs
  • Monterey Jack Cheese: 1 g net carbs
  • Queso: 3.5 g net carbs
  • Romaine lettuce: 0 g net carbs
  • Sour cream: 2 g net carbs
Low carb salsas at Chipotle, each 3-4 grams net carbs
  • Fresh tomato salsa: 3 g net carbs
  • Tomatillo green-chile salsa: 4 g net carbs
  • Tomatillo red-chile salsa: 3 g net carbs

What do you think about restaurants offering “lifestyle” specific options on their menu? I think we still need to look at the macros and not blindly believe a food or meal is “Keto” – but I welcome restaurants trying to make it easier for us to select items on their menu that do work!
