It’s been hard to keep up with all the new keto products that have been hitting the market over the past year — it seems like new bread alternatives, treats, drinks and snacks pop up daily so I’m committing to trying to post at least one new review a week to help you select the best options. This week is my Unbun review — while I love my keto bread recipe and use it sometimes for burgers or go with my favorite low carb bread alternative, Cut Da Carb flatbreads, sometimes you want that chewy, dense bun on your burger and these Unbun keto burger buns are my favorite both because of texture and flavor and because they’re made with quality ingredients. As many readers know, I am not a fan of the Costco Keto Bread both because of taste and ingredients and one of my biggest problems with many of the “keto” products hitting the market is that they are made with questionable ingredients in order to cut the sugar and carbs…which defeats the purpose of a keto lifestyle…yes, keto is about losing weight but I also firmly believe it’s about improving your overall health as well, so consuming products made with unhealthy ingredients defeats the purpose.
Ok, so off my soapbox and onto my Unbun review. Unbun started out with low carb burger buns and now makes an array of keto-friendly bread products from loaves of bread, to bagels to tortillas and keto pizza crusts. All are gluten-free and grain-free and come in under 5g of net carbs per serving. They use only clean ingredients – coconut and almond flours, eggs and flax seeds (no weird fillers) and the result is a whole-grain like bun that toasts up well and stays together just like a regular hamburger bun.
I had these on hand for our Labor Day BBQ and they held up to my ultimate keto cheeseburger with caramelized onions and bacon perfectly!
