When I first went keto last year, one of my best friends thought I would never last a week let alone almost three years now. Her main reason? She didn’t think I could be keto and go without ice cream and ice cream bars, which are one of my go to sweet treats — especially in the summer. Well, not only have I lasted this long (with no intention of every going back to a standard American diet), I even have converted her to live the keto life too! And, thanks to so many amazing companies putting out high quality keto products, keto ice cream bars are easily found in the supermarket – and you can make them at home too! I’ll share some of my favorite homemade ice cream bar recipes another day, however today I’m reviewing some of the keto ice cream bar options found at the supermarket so you can cool off with a guilt-free, keto iced treat anytime!
Costco Keto Ice Cream Bars
I had been stalking my local Costco for these and when they finally started stocking them, I grabbed two boxes right away. Even though they come with 12 to a box, I had heard rave reviews and I knew that the Salted Caramel flavor would be a huge hit in our home. Coming in at 2g of net carbs each, these keto ice cream bars do not disappoint. Sweetened with a combination of stevia, erythritol and monkfruit, I also love that the Costco bars don’t have junk sweeteners in them. The creamy salted caramel ice cream tastes more like vanilla, however with the thin chocolate coated shell, these will take you straight back to your favorite childhood summer memories for sure!
Enlightened Keto Ice Cream Bars
Enlightened makes 5 flavors of ice cream bars that all come in at just 1g of net carbs each. Similar to their ice cream, the texture is light and airy and very similar to the Halo Top Keto Ice Cream I love. Their bars are just as delicious and I love that you can find them at pretty much any supermarket. My favorite flavor is the Mint Chocolate Chip however the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip was my sons’ favorite.
Breyer’s Carb Smart Ice Cream Bars
I get lots of questions about these, which is why I’m including them, however with 5g of net carbs each and not the best ingredients (maltitol, corn fiber and soybean oil), I don’t really recommended these ice cream bars for those trying to maintain a semi-strict keto diet. These come in a few different flavors and are easy to find at the market which is the only plus, but given that you can get other options that are lower carb and use more keto-approved ingredients, I’d opt for the others if you can find them.
If I had to rate them, I’d rank them in the order I have here — the Costco bars are my favorite for sure but the Enlightened Bars come in at a close second!
