While alcohol can make us more prone to cheat, sometimes we just need a good cocktail – and I love margaritas. Traditional margaritas are full of sugar – and therefore NOT keto friendly. This stevia-sweetened version of a keto classic margarita recipe is simple to make and the addition of pink sea salt on the rim (totally optional) adds a nice touch – and some good minerals to go with our keto cocktail! Hard alcohol – like tequila and vodka – are the best choices on keto because they are zero carb…so as long as you are careful with your mixers, alcohol on keto can be 100% ok!
I love CasaMigos tequila and use fresh lime juice in my keto classic margarita recipe whenever possible for optimal flavor. The fresh lime juice brings 7g of carbs with it, so while we shouldn’t indulge in one of these all the time, it’s a nice, refreshing boozy treat to have here and there. If you want to cut the lime juice in half, that works too and is just as tangy and refreshing! If you want some more inventive keto margarita recipes, check out my blackberry margarita which is a fan favorite or my newest one that was a hit throughout the summer – the low carb watermelon margarita!
